The Earlier, The Better

A child’s facial and dental development can begin to look misaligned from as early as the age of six, however parents are encouraged to wait until the ages of up to thirteen before having an orthodontic consultation, and subsequently treatment to correct crooked and crowded teeth. Diabetes Shown to Increase Risk of Gum Disease

Results from a study that has taken place over 20 years has shown that men suffering from type 2 diabetes are more likely to experience tooth loss than those who don’t suffer. 38,000 males were followed by the study, which took place between to 1986 and 2006 to examine any connections there might be between diabetes and tooth loss and gum disease. A New Use for an Old Teeth Whitening Solution

US Dental experts have recently made an unusual discovery. A report published in the Journal of the American Dental Association has shown that there is evidence to suggest that applying the teeth whitening agent carbamide peroxide could potentially help to alleviate some of the oral hygiene problems faced by the elderly or those with special needs. Sugarless Tea Improves Oral Hygiene?

NHS Wales has recently announced a decision to forbid the sale of tea or coffee with added sugar in hospital vending machines. This decision has been met with praise, particularly from Dr. Nigel Carter of the British Dental Health Foundation who welcomed the news stating that it will help to encourage improved oral hygiene.
