Beware of Low Cost Teeth Whitening
You’ve undoubtedly seen the online advertising for teeth whitening products. If you’ve ever thought about having your teeth whitened then these low cost products may seem like an ideal solution, however it’s not quite that simple.
Dental associations have warned that many of the products sold online and marketed as teeth whiteners may actually do more harm than good and in fact may be capable of damaging your teeth. Many of the products sold online are not properly regulated and some of these whitening products can contain over 40% carbamide peroxide, a special type of bleach that can be highly dangerous. This is over 150 times the legal limit and using a product that contains such high levels of this bleach could casue serious harm and gum disease.
These questionable products that contain an uncertain cocktail of potentially harmful ingredients could lead of painful chemical burns in the mouth, which may up further staining teeth rather than whitening them.
If you would like to have your teeth whitened then you’re better off consulting your local cosmetic dentist. They’ll be able to discuss a variety of legitimate and entirely safe teeth whitening solutions with you, and although their prices may be higher than the ‘wonder products’ advertised online you must remember that this is the only way to ensure you receive a safe and effective teeth whitening treatment. It is always better to consult a professional before jumping into something that could have potentially harmful consequences, this goes for a whole variety of other medical products available online, not just teeth whitening solutions.
