What treatment is out there for crooked teeth?
Crooked and misaligned teeth are a fact of life and there are very few people who have teeth that they would regard as being naturally perfect. If your teeth do need a little work, then cosmetic dentistry is one of the ways in which you can achieve the smile of our dreams, whether through the use of porcelain veneers, dental bridges, or tooth straightening.
What options are there for crooked teeth?
The first option most people think of when faced with the need to realign crooked teeth is braces, which often comes with many negative connotations.
However, times have moved on since the days when the only option for teeth straightening was braces. Today, cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics can provide a number of different options to help correct a crooked smile. One option you may be given are aligners, which have gained increasing popularity over recent years. Created to help quickly realign teeth, specifically those at the front of the mouth, aligners are usually very discreet devices to wear and so lessen the embarrassment often associated with the wearing of braces. There are many aligner systems available today, but the two most successful are Invisalign and the Inman Aligner.
Invisalign
Invisalign, like most aligners, is removable and as such can be used to straighten teeth, whilst allowing the wearer to go brace free when attending important social events or during meal times. The Invisalign aligners are made of clear plastic, specifically moulded to your mouth and teeth and sit in your mouth comfortably and unnoticed. Due to the customisation of Invisalign aligners, treatment time is dramatically cut in comparison to the time frame given for traditional braces.
During your treatment you wear a new aligner every two weeks, until your smile is completely straight and stunning. Each instalment is a new aligner, slightly altered from the last, to minimise the time it takes to achieve the tooth structure you want. The time it takes to get to the end stage depends on how crooked your teeth are and the number of aligners given will reflect the complexity of your case.
Inman Aligner
As with the Invisalign, Inman Aligners are removable, almost invisible and are generally much faster than regular braces.
The device is created in such a way that as little material is used as possible, which makes it less visible and also makes the device cheaper. Both Inman Aligners and Invisalign are cheaper than traditional braces.
While Inman Aligners and Invisalign are perfect for fixing slightly crooked teeth, this option is mainly for mild cosmetic changes. If your teeth are severely crooked or misaligned then it is recommended that you seek the advice of your dentist on the best type of tooth straightening device for you.

Align with Invisalign
The desire for attractive teeth that are straight and white spans cultures—it is a global issue at the forefront of human’s minds around the world. In fact, our infatuation with perfect smiles started long before Hollywood gave us pin-ups, poster children and the silver screen.
Historians say that the quest for straight teeth was a priority for some of the world’s most iconic leaders and thinkers including Aristotle and Hippocrates. Such was the early human’s desire for straight teeth that they fashioned makeshift braces from catgut and wires, drilling holes in the teeth themselves to thread the wires through and create tension to force crooked teeth into submission.
It has been proven that the alignment of one’s mouth, the shape of one’s teeth, greatly affects our individual levels of outgoingness and confidence. Be it the result of social norms or inherent makeup, our confidence naturally increases when we have straight teeth. In fact, scientific research suggests that the social lives of adults are boosted.
No matter the initial reason, we get bombarded with ads about our teeth and how to achieve perfect smiles. Having straight teeth is a priority for most of us and many of us would rather receive a smile we are proud of without the embarrassment stereotypically associated with traditional, metal braces.
Invisalign braces were created for this purpose. Invisalign invisible braces allow you to reclaim your smile by means of a comfortable teeth-straightening process that will not leave you steeped in the ridicule often associated with metal braces.
Invisalign braces are specially fitted and made of plastic. They can be removed and replaced, just like mouth guards, by the wearer, and enable patients to continue eating a diet of foods that they prefer, instead of having to abandon popcorn, chewing gum and sticky foods. Since Invisalign braces do not have wires, they are less painful than traditional braces. Traditional braces required the wearers to attend regular dental visits for wire tautening.
Because Invisalign braces trays are replaced every two weeks, the speed at which the teeth are straightened is quicker. Invisalign’s biggest advantage is that since the braces are invisible you can carry on with your life without having to hide behind a mouth full of metal. Most people don’t even notice that you are wearing the invisible braces!
