Don’t Rush Brushing and Avoid Cosmetic Dentistry
A recent study has shown that over a third of the adult population are not spending enough time brushing their teeth due to distractions such as children and mobile phones. However, the main reason for cutting back on brushing time was cited by many as the morning rush. More and more of us are skimping on the amount of time we spend brushing in order to get out of the house quicker. As we all know we’re meant to spend at least two minutes brushing our teeth in order to do a good job, but it seems that most of us only manage around forty five seconds of brushing.
Of course this is going to have consequences and regularly skipping teeth brushing can lead to tooth decay and other serious problems. Many of these problems will cause unsightly symptoms that may be possible to correct with various cosmetic dentistry treatments, however serious tooth decay can lead to more problems too. Staining and misaligned teeth can be corrected with smile makeovers and similar cosmetic dental procedures, but poor oral hygiene that stems from failure to brush appropriately can lead to gum disease and other potentially serious conditions that cannot be corrected through cosmetic dentistry.
Of course, it’s to better prevent damage to your teeth by maintaining a high standard of oral hygiene rather than try to correct it when it occurs. So, think about this next time you’re brushing your teeth and make sure you allow yourself time to do a good job. It could save you a lot of money and hassle in the future.
