Needle Free Dental Anaesthetic Around the Corner
For many people a trip to the dentist can be quite traumatic. This is often especially true for people who are about to undergo particularly invasive procedures such as tooth extractions and restructuring. Even a comparatively small procedure such as having a filling can be distressing for some people.
However, for a certain proportion of people from London it’s not the procedures themselves that are cause of anxiety, but the rather the anaesthetic administered by a needle. A number of people suffer from a phobia of needles, which can make the administration of anaesthetic extremely traumatic for some people, especially when the anaesthetic has to be injected in the mouth, which can be very uncomfortable.
There is some good news for these people though. At the 88th annual Dental Research Exhibition held in Barcelona and new needle free anaesthetic was showcased. The new product is in fact a nasal spray that can be administered easily and is suitable for procedures that require the upper teeth to be anaesthetised. Many dentists around the world have expressed an interest in this product and it seems quite likely that after further trials it will make its way into dental surgeries around the world.
This product will be of use to health care professionals working in both the fields of general and cosmetic dentistry and will of course be welcomed by patients, particularly those who have a very intense dislike for injections. All patients will probably be pleased to accept a nasal spray rather than an injection as nobody enjoys being injected, however it’s certain that this new development will be more of a relief to some people than others!
