Replace Your Worn Tooth Brush

Using a clean, good quality tooth brush with plenty of life left in it is vital for the people of London in maintaining a high standard of oral health. You should replace your toothbrush at least every three months as they tend to become worn out over this time. This is why a dental practice in Burnley is offering a ‘toothbrush amnesty’ for patients.

The Standish Street Dental Practice organised the event, where patients could swap their old worn toothbrushes for new ones, to mark Colgate’s Oral Health Month that is intended to promote high standards of oral hygiene amongst the general public.

We all know that it is vital to brush our teeth at least twice a day, but many people are unaware that the way we brush and the state of our toothbrush can affect cleaning. Worn toothbrushes do not clean effectively, so it’s important to replace your brush as it becomes worn out.

Keeping on top of your oral hygiene can help you avoid problems such as tooth decay and gum disease. Years of improper brushing could require very expensive cosmetic dental treatment and in some cases the problems caused may be beyond correction.

Teeth whitening treatments can be used to lighten stained or discoloured teeth. This discolouration can often be a result of ineffective brushing and poor oral hygiene. Having stained teeth whitened can be quite an expensive process, so it is best to take preventative measures rather than try to deal with the problem when it occurs.

Of course, discolouration of the teeth is a relatively minor problem compared to some of the serious decay and gum disease that can occur from ineffective brushing. So, ensure that your brush is in good condition, not worn out, and use it at least twice a day!
