All children are unique and treating children extends beyond just diagnosing teeth and the problem they present to me with.

Your child’s age, personality, co-operation and attitude towards dentists all influence the treatment. Together we go through the entire medical history from child birth right through to the present moment. I assess the general growth and development and following diagnosis of any dental problem, a comprehensive treatment plan is made that is tailored to the specific needs of your child. As a parent you play an important part to ensure a successful treatment outcome and your support makes a big difference to your child’s future dental health.

I frequently see many children who are very anxious about seeing a dentist. In most cases these children have been severely traumatised by previous dental experiences. As a specialist in paediatric dental care, I am committed to providing a child-friendly and age-appropriate approach to treatment that is supported by positive reinforcement. Whether the treatment involves a simple filling, comprehensive restorative work, orthodontic treatment or creating an aesthetically beautiful smile, I provide high quality dental care using state of the art techniques to obtain the best possible clinical results. I intervene appropriately to ensure that dental growth and development proceed normally. This ensures that ultimately your child will have a great smile and a healthy, mature permanent dentition that is fully functional. I believe that with the right approach, children can be motivated to look after their oral health and enter adulthood free of any dental anxiety.

It is a great privilege for me to be involved in helping children achieve optimal dental health. Watching my patients grow up and see the quality of their lives improve through the efforts my team and I provide gives me great pleasure and maintains my enthusiasm for practicing as a specialist paediatric dentist.

Frequently asked questions

My child has woken up with a swollen face?

This usually means there is an infection in one of their teeth and Urgent attention is required.

My child has knocked out a baby tooth what should I do ?

Place the tooth in a glass of milk straight away, if you can find it. If there is bleeding use a damp cloth to apply pressure to the region where it is bleeding. If you cannot find the tooth, do not worry, as it should not be replanted in the socket by you or the dentist.

My child's gums bleed when his or her teeth are brushed?

Commonly it is from inflamed gums from probably not brushing very well as some children haven’t developed their motor skills. The solution is to keep the teeth and gums clean and this should resolve the problem within a few days. If it doesn't’t you should book a checkup just to ensure everything is ok.

My child has broken a front tooth?

If the child is in pain, give your normal pain relief and place a cold compress over the area. Its best to see your dentist as soon as possible.

My child has broken their brace or loose wires from their orthodontic appliance?

If a broken appliance can be removed easily, take it out. If it cannot, cover the sharp or protruding wires with dental wax, cotton balls, gauze, or chewing gum. If a wire is stuck in the gums, cheek, or tongue, Take the child to your orthodontist as soon as you can. Loose or broken appliances which do not bother the child don’t usually require emergency attention.
